Corporate Worship is a vital and essential part of our life together at First UMC of Gautier. We gather together on Sunday mornings as a family of believers to bear witness to the presence and work of Jesus Christ in our lives through song, prayer, and the proclamation of God’s holy word.
Worship: Sunday at 10am to 11am.
We have four adult Sunday Schools.
The Adult Sunday School Class
The Wesleyan Friendship Class
On February 17th, we are instituting an 8 week study on Phillip Tallon’s The Absolute Basics of the Christian Faith for those who are not yet in a small group home.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What should I expect when I visit?
A: As you prepare to visit with us, be prepared to experience friendship, love, and spiritual fullness. Sunday school classes, after-worship fellowship, Wonderful Wednesdays, and many other activities add to the experience.
Q: Where do I go (parking and entrances)?
A: You can park on either side of the building, though we try to reserve the smaller parking lot by the sanctuary for our patrons who need handicap accessible parking. Also, if you park in the back of the church, you may get your car stuck in the mud.
Q: How should I dress?
A: With the broad range of people worshiping at our church, we have people coming in every type of attire from blue jeans and sneakers to their “Sunday finest.” Most people dress casually. Bottom line, wear whatever feels comfortable to you! You will be welcome!
Q: What about ministries for my children?
Children’s Ministry times are an important part of our Sunday morning ministries. We have a Children’s Church during our main worshipping time.
Q: How do United Methodists perform baptisms?
A: We believe baptism is a gift from God given without price. Therefore, we baptize infants, children, and adults alike. We baptize in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit by sprinkling/pouring water on the head. We can baptize using full immersion if special arrangements are made. If you would like to learn more, we can provide you with a copy of the official United Methodist document on baptism, “By Water and the Spirit.”
Q: How and when is Holy Communion celebrated?
A: We offer communion the first Sunday of each month during the regular 10:00 a.m. worship service. We practice open communion because we believe that everyone is welcome at Christ’s table. We typically serve communion through intinction, which involves taking a piece of bread and dipping it in the cup of grape juice. Feel free to discuss with our pastor any questions you have about communion. If you would like to learn more, we can provide you with a copy of the official United Methodist statement on Holy Communion, “This Holy Mystery.”
