Biographical Info

Bishop James E. Swanson appointed Rev. Austin Hoyle to serve as pastor of First United Methodist Churches in Gautier, Mississippi in June of 2015. Before Gautier, he served as associate pastor of Parkway Hills United Methodist Church in Madison, MS. Prior to returning to the Mississippi Annual Conference, Austin served as pastor to Springfield United Methodist Church in the Frankfurt District of the Kentucky Annual Conference. He currently serves on the Seashore District Operational Team, which is tasked with assisting churches in the Seashore District to form an intentional disciple making process.

Prior to entering full-time ministry, Austin worked as a high school English teacher at South Delta High School in Rolling Fork, MS. Alongside that, he was an instructor at Hinds Community College where he taught English Composition and Mathematic classes. He holds a B.A. in English Literature, minoring in Philosophy and Spanish, and an M.Div from Asbury Theological Seminary. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D in Theology from London School of Theology at Middlesex University.

Austin is married to Rev. Bess Marie Perrier who is also an ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church. She is currently employed by Seashore United Methodist Assembly as Ministry Specialist. Austin and Bess have three children: Eowyn, Ensley, and Loxley.
