Pie Ladies

When the Family Life center was built in 1995, the women of the church took it upon themselves to fund the new kitchen. To do this, they began making and selling pies. In the beginning some 20 or so ladies would meet one day a week-some making crust, some peeling apples, others packaging pies for freezing. Funds were raised in no time but the ladies saw a real opportunity to raise money for mission projects. Almost 20 years later the group has dwindled to five-still meeting once a week- the offerings now include entrees and breads. The prices are the same as they were in 1995 and more than $200,000.00 has been raised.

Funds go to support United Methodist missions around the world and just as important is the one-on-one support they offer to individuals in the community-money for utility bills & rent deposits; or money for eye glasses & dentures, gas money, etc. God continues to bless the endeavor of the Pie Ladies of Gautier UMC.
